One of the fastest growing communities in Canada, Lakeshore exudes an abundance of natural beauty. It's proximity to the waterfront offers residents and visitors alike many recreational opportunities -- whether your sport of choice is swimming, fishing, boating, or even just relaxing while meandering through one of the many conservation/walking trails in the region. Enjoy some of the many festivals held in the area, including the annual Comber Fair with it's 4H competitions, or "Sunsplash" held in Belle River and organized by the Belle River Business Improvement Area.
Incorporated in 199, Lakeshore now includes the communities of Belle River, Byrnedale, Comber, Deerbrook, Elmstead, Emeryville, Haycroft, Lighthouse Cove, north Woodslee, Pike Creek, Pleasant Park, Puce, Ruscom, South Woodslee, St. Joachim, Stoney Point and Strangfield.
Located on the shoreline of Lake St. Clair, Lakeshore is just 20 kilometers (12 miles) from the U.S. Border. It is a community which has its roots in the 18th Century, when it's first inhabitants settled in Belle River. Their legacy now includes a bustling, historic community close to a huge metropolitan area, yet intimate enough for people to still know their neighbour's first names.
With it's mix of urban, rural or lakefront homesites, Lakeshore includes many smaller traditional communities -- in a picturesque country setting but with all the modern amenities.
